Finsbury ParkI reckon Finsbury Park gets a bad press…

Yeah OK it’s not the prettiest place in London, but a few laps of the park’s inner road represents a really good Great Gorilla Run workout and on your way out of the park you can grab the best bagels outside of Brick Lane.

More than enough reasons to make your way to Finsbury Park on a weekend morning in this Great Gorilla’s opinion.

The inner road of Finsbury Park is around 2.7km and there’s a killer hill to test the mettle of even the fittest Great Gorilla.

A steady 2 laps with a fast final loop and you’ll be in fine fettle come the day of the Great Gorilla Run.

And if you’re really serious about your training, make your way up to the race track at the top of  hill – behind the boating pond – and there you can do all kinds of split time sprints or just pretend for a moment that you’re on your way to being an Olympic Champ.

POST-RUN PIG-OUT RECOMMENDATION

The Happenin’ Bagel Bake
The best bagel shop outside of Brick Lane, the Happenin’ Bagel Bake’s the place to head for the post-run pig out. It’s right outside the Seven Sisters Rd gates and it’s cheap as chips, so grab a bag for a couple of quid and get them under the grill at home ASAP.
