Located near Waterloo on the South Bank of the Thames, a stones-throw from the Great Gorilla Run course and sights such as The Globe Theatre and St Paul’s Cathedral, the Millenium Wheel, AKA The London Eye is one of the most memorable landmarks in the city and a focal point for London’s New Years Eve celebrations since 2005, giving it worldwide notoriety.
Since its opening in March 2000 the Eye has become the most popular tourist attraction in the UK, with 3 million visitors a year, sadly none of whom are dressed in gorilla suits!
As one of the tallest Ferris wheels in the world, reaching up to 443ft at it highest point, the Eye gives its riders a panoramic view of London from the sky. On September 26th riders will be able to see hundreds of gorilla-suited runners taking part in the eighth annual Great Gorilla Run.
If you would like to cheer our gorilla runners on from the London Eye or come and participate in the run as a great gorilla character, sign up now for the 2010 event and help to save the few remaining gorillas.
