The Great Gorilla Run passes Central London’s most famous landmarks including St Pauls, London Bridge, and the London Dungeon. One of the oldest and most infamous is the Tower of London.

Famed in the historic stories of ‘The Princes in the Tower’ and ‘Elizabeth I’, the Tower is situated on the North side of the River Thames at Tower Hill and only minutes into the Great Gorilla Run, as the first major landmark on the trail.

‘The Tower’ was built by William the Conqueror as a fortress to protect London from invaders. On September 26th it will be doing its job and protecting the city from invaders of the primate kind as up to 1000 excited gorillas descend on Tower Hill!

It has performed many jobs including a palace and a prison for royal inhabitants, the home of the Royal menagerie, the Royal Mint and the Crown Jewels. It has also been the sight of the torture and execution for those committing crimes against England.

Let’s hope none of our gorilla runners get carried away and end up on ‘The Rack’!
